Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Thursday, February 21, 1924, page 1:
William C. Dippold, well known young man of Worden, passed away at 9:25 o'clock last evening at the Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, following a surgical operation several days ago. Mr. Dippold had been ill for the past several months and last week he was removed to the hospital in hopes that an operation might prove successful, but which resulted in his death.
Mr. Dippold was born near Bethalto on August 26, 1888, and had attained the age of 35 years, 5 months and 25 days. At the age of five years he moved with his parents to Edwardsville and his early training was received in the public schools here.
On November 4, 1912, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Zirges, who with two children survive. They are Gladys 10, and Milton, 4. He is the son of John Dippold of this city and is also survived by two brothers, George Dippold of Springfield, Mo., and Arthur J. Dippold of this city. There is one sister, Mrs. Margaret Fiegenbaum, of this city.
Mr. Dippold was of a pleasant disposition and bore his illness cheerfully. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and his death coming in the early part of his life will prove a great loss to his family and friends. He has resided in Worden for the past six years and was employed at the Kerns-Donnewaid mine there.
The body will be brought to the residence of his father, John Dippold, of 923 Grand avenue, and funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon by Rev. Arnold Smith of the Presbyterian church of this city. Interment will be made in the Woodlawn cemetery.
