Elgin Britton 80, well-known Route 1, Crossville farmer, died Monday at 6:20 p.m. at the Wilmar Restorium following a year of failing health.
He had been a patient at the Restorium the past four weeks, having gone there from the Carmi Township Hospital. He had spent his entire lifetime in Phillips Township.
Mr. Britton was born in that township December 23, 1883, the son of John and Evelyn Armstrong Britton. He married March 30, 1904 to Maude Spencer. In later years he was married to Rhoda Headley, who passed away January 11, 1963.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Evansville, Indiana.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ethel and Hiram Smith and Erma and Walter Cooper, all of Crossville; two granddaughters Roberta Sue Haws and Jo Ellen Helmanson; two great grandsons, Mike Haws and Allen Helmanson, and a niece, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Downen, Route 1 Crossville.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Kittinger Funeral Home Chapel with Dannie F. Martin officiating Burial will be in the Kuykendall Cemetery.
