One of 12 children, Sister Jane was born in Highgate Center, Vt. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1942 and pronounced her final vows in 1948. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Mount St. Joseph College in 1955.
Her 34 years of teaching brought her to 11 elementary schools throughout the Diocese of Buffalo. From 1977 to 1999 she served in multiple roles, including plant manager at Mount St. Joseph Academy Elementary Division. She continued her varied work after moving to Clarence in 2000.
Described by her community members as "the essence of hospitality and energy," Sister Jane maintained the sisters' former vacation home in Olcott for more than 20 years. Her extensive garden supplied convents with an abundance and variety of vegetables.
She is survived by a sister, Sister Frances SSJ; two brothers, Rosaire and Claude; and a close cousin, Sister Cecile Ferland SSJ.
