Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 1st New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on May 8, 1861, and was mustered in as a Private in Company D on May 22, 1861. He served through the Augsut 1862 Battle of Second Bull Run, where he was mortally wounded. He lingered in a hospital in Washington, DC until he died of his wounds in October 1862.
