Stanley Wiklund went peacefully on February 21, 2004, to meet his Savior. He passed on surrounded by his family after a two-month illness.
In his 85 years, he led a full and joyful life, finding fulfillment from his church, family, friends, hard work, and the great outdoors. The son of Swedish immigrants John and Bertha Josephine (Johnson) Wiklund, he was born October 14, 1918, in Everett, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Josephine Dustin; his brother Walter; and many other family members and life-long friends.
He leaves Lillian (Stone) Wiklund, his wife of 57 years; daughters, Janet (David) McAllister and Julie (Tom) Young; grandsons, Tim McAllister and Brett Stanley Nagle; goddaughters, Nancy Harvey and Wendy Stone; nephews, Ron and Wally Wiklund; great nephew John Wiklund; great niece Tracey Tuttle; his dear extended family and more friends than we can count.
A Marysville resident most of his life, he spent most of his childhood years in the East Sunnyside area. He graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1936 and served his country in the U.S. Army from September 1942 to February 1946.
Stanley took a job as a truck driver in 1941 with Pacific Highway Transport, which later became Garrett Freightlines. He remained with the company until 1980 at which time he was manager of the Everett, Mount Vernon, and Bellingham terminal offices. When Stanley retired after 39 years, he began channeling some of his considerable energies into the Marysville Food Bank, making pickups and deliveries in his orange 1972 Chevy truck.
He belonged to the Normanna Sons of Norway lodge and was a past president of the Moelner Sons of Norway lodge in Silvana. Stanley was renowned for his skill at making coffee for large Normanna events. He was also a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and had previous memberships in the Everett Elks, Marysville Moose, Lions Club, and Transportation Club. He has been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1951.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on February 26th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Marysville, WA.
