"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."
Beloved mother of Michelle, loving grandmother to Nathan, Nicholas, Kassandra, Alexander and Cayden. Former wife and forever soul mate of Payton. Sheila was the daughter of Wilma J Cooper and Joseph J Willis. However, she was raised by her mom and her step-father Homer Doin Leighty
My mother was taken away from us at the hands of her 2nd husband. She has missed so much since she has been gone. Her oldest 4 grandchildren's graduation from High School. the birth of her 2 youngest grandsons, the marriage of two of her grandsons and granddaughter ,The birth of her now 7 great grandchildren, the passing of her beloved grand mother, aunts and uncle, . So many big things yet there are thousands of little things.
I so miss being able to call her and talk to her about the silly mundane "life" things we use to always laugh about. Heck, I called her all the way from Germany to rant about over cooking a pot roast!! LOL
My mother was a hoot! she had an infectious laugh and always had a smile on her pretty face. She never had a cross word to say about anyone and her cup was ALWAYS HALF FULL. The loved to dance and watch old movies.. Gone with the Wind was her favorite. We use to watch it together and recite every word. She loved to play with her grand-kids, and she could play a mean game of badminton :o)
My mother was attacked and beaten by her 2nd husband on Dec 28th 1995, I flew from Germany to Nashville to be by her side. She was removed from life support and passed away Dec 31, 1995 at 10:04am at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville TN.
She was laid to rest next to my dad's father in Carmi Illinois. My mom and Papaw were best buddies and loved to fish and play cards together. I am sure there is no other place she would like to rest than next to "Doc"
My mother's grave marker does not have her married name of her 2nd husband, they were only married for a short period of time. He does not deserve to have his name remembered!
Abbey is my maiden name and all of my family agreed that being she was an ABBEY for many years before she and my father divorced, she should forever be an Abbey.
~*~ UPDATE: I have recently found my mom's birth father!! HE can be found at Find a Grave # 50865260 Joseph J Willis I have found my mom had siblings she never even knew about or got to know. She would have LOVED to have known them.
My mother is missed so much by so many. They say the years get easier, but it's a lie..I have learned to live with it, but I will never get over it and I will NEVER forgive the person who took her from me.
Her killer, pled guilty to 2nd degree murder and was given only 20 years. Not near enough to make up for what he has done and what he took from us. He is now out of prison and enjoying his life I'm sure.
I would like to give a huge {{{hug}}} to GuyB for sponsoring my mother's memorial!!
A very kind thank you to all who leave flowers for my Mother. My mom loved flowers, pink roses were her favorite. When I get a chance to go to Illinois and visit her grave, I always take her a pretty bunch of pink roses.

We are connected...my child and I...by an invisible cord...not seen by the eye...It's not like the cord that connects us 'till birth...this cord can't be seen by any on earth....This cord does its work...right from the start...It binds us together....attached to my heart...I know that it's there...though no one can see...the invisible cord from my child to me......The strength of this cord is hard to describe...It can't be destroyed...it can't be denied.....It's stronger than any cord man could create....It withstands the test...can hold any weight.....And though you are gone...though you are not here with me....This cord is still there...but no one can see......It pulls at my heart...I am bruised...I am sore....But this cord is my lifeline...as never before......I am thankful we are connected this way....A mother and child....death can't take it away!

* Every day and every night
when you feel the need
to hold me tight
just blow a kiss into the sky
for I'll be that close by
in the Heaven throughout the day
I watch over you and hear you Pray
I see you smile and shed a tear
for you know I'm still near
I'm the Angel of your eye
your Angel in the sky.*
