Son of Michael Deedy, born in Volta, Poland, husband of Mary Ryder, and father of Kathryn "Kate" (married Martin Benevich), May "Mamie", Anna (married James Henry Herring), Susan "Susie" (married Arthur Rooney), Agnes L. (married William H. Bridge), Jeanette (married Rocco Sconone), Louise (married Salvatore Buscarino, later known as Charles), and Charles Francis Deedy.

The family settled in New Jersey for a time, where Annie was born in 1882, May "Mamie" was born in 1889, Susan was born 1890, Louise in 1892, and Jeanette in 1892.

The family then made their home in an area called Boomertown (between East Patchogue and Hagerman) in the late 1890's and moved to Pitt Street in Patchogue about 1903. Daughter Agnes was born in Bellport in 1895 and Charles in Patchogue in 1898.

In 1897, Mamie Deedy, 8 years old, died in a fire at their home in Boomertown, near East Patchogue.

In 1900, Martin Doodo, aged 57, born December 1942 in Poland (Austria), emigration year 1878, was living in Brookhaven, NY with his wife, Mary, aged 45, born March 1855 in Poland (Austria), and children, Louise, 10, born December 1899 in New Jersey, Geletta, 7, born January 1893 in New Jersey, Agness, 5, born March 1895 in New York, and Steaven Doodo, aged 2, born May 1898 in New York. Martin was shown to be a farmer.

In 1911, Mary and Martin were shown living on Pitt Street, Patchogue, NY. While leading a cow to pasture, Mary broke her leg after entangling her foot in the cow's rope. While she lay there, the cow stopped and was found licking Mary's face when her rescuers arrived.

In 1915, Martin Deedo, aged 60, a farmer, was living at 14 Pitt Street, with his wife, Mary, aged 55, and son, Charles Deedo, aged 16, a general laborer. Also living in the household was son-in-law, Charles White, aged 22, a cake maker, and daughter, Victoria, aged 25, a lace winder.

On April 22, 1916, his daughter, Louise Deedy, aged 25, born in Perthy Amboy, N.J., shown the daughter of Martin Deedy and Mary Rider, married Salvatore Buscarino, aged 24, born in Corleone, Italy, shown the son of Antonio Buscarino and Rosa Carnavalli, in Manhattan, NY.

In 1920, Martin Deedy, aged 70, and his wife, Mary Deedy, aged 60, were shown living at 14 Grove Avenue (14 Pitt Street), Brookhaven, NY. Both born in Poland, and both shown as aliens (non-citizens), Martin was shown to have emigrated to the U.S. in 1879 and Mary in 1880.

Obituary - Patchogue - Funeral services for the late Martin Deedy, a resident of this village for the past 21 years, will be held from St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church Friday evening. The deceased, who died at his late residence, 14 Pitt Street, Monday, in his 78th year. He was a member of St. Joseph's Polish Society which will accompany the body to the Catholic Cemetery where interment will be made. He is survived by his widow, Mary; one son, Charles; five daughters, Kate Benvick, of Sayville; Mrs. Anna Herring, of Ohio; Mrs. Susan Rooney, of Patchogue; and Mrs. Louis Buscanno and Mrs. Janet Sconone, of New York City.

Also - Patchogue- Martin Deedy, who died at the age of 77 years at his home here last week was buried in the Catholic cemetery here last Thursday. He is survived by his wife, one son and five daughters. Among the latter is Kate Benevich of Sayville.

Gardner, M.D. and was buried in the Patchogue Catholic Cemetery on May 30, 1924 by R.M. Sharp, Undertaker. Informant was Susie Rooney of 14 Pitt Street, Patchogue, NY.

On June 1, 1925, his wife, Mary Deede, aged 66, of Poland, widowed, was shown living at 14 Conklin Avenue (one block over from Pitt Street), Brookhaven, NY. Her daughter, Susan Rooney, was shown living in the house at 14 Pitt Street.

In 1930, his wife, Mary Deddee, aged 67, widowed, born in Poland, was living in the rear of No. 34 West Main Street, Patchogue, NY. Living with her was a boarder, Nicholas Piaechotehy, aged 48, who worked at the lace factory. Living on the front of West Main Street, Patchogue, was her daughter, Susie Rooney, aged 43, widowed, and her children, Arthur F., who worked as a helper at a trucking company, 17, Frederick, 15, Martin R., 5, Charles, 3 years, 11 months, and Henrietta Rooney, aged 20.
