Mahalia Sherwood Gates. My Great Great Grandmother. She was born in August of 1862 in Canada. Migrated to the US in 1864 with her parents when she was 2 yrs. old. Married Joseph Gates(Goetsch in Germany) and had 2 known Children Joseph and Elmer and numerous great grandchildren including me. She had to have been a hard working woman she was married to a farmer. I so wish we knew more about the women in our lives and their contributions to our existence.
