YORK Virginia S. Devitt, 59, of York, died Monday at her home. She was the wife of William Devitt.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, Houston. The Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York, is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Devitt was born Jan. 7, 1937, in Seminole, Okla. She was the daughter of Virginia (Robertson) Scroggins of York and the late Clyde Scroggins.
She was a court reporter for civil and criminal courts in Houston. She did free lance deposition work in York. She was a member of National Court Reporters Association and Texas Court Reporters Association.
Mrs. Devitt also is survived by two sons, Major Donald W. Bridge of Fort Hood, Texas, and William Devitt VII of Houston; a daughter, Wendy R. Raymer of Houston; two stepdaughters, Debra L. Devitt of Houston and Teresa K. Devitt of Florida; and 10 grandchildren.
Officiating at both services will be Dr. Richard F. O'Brien.
