Inscription
Sacred to the Memory of Washington Byers, born the 3rd June A.D. 1795, and died 17th of July 1832, aged thirtyseven years, this monument is erected by his affected Widow, Lo discriminate the cold and silent depository, of the remains of much loved, and sincerely lamented husband. By his death, the bereaved family to which he belonged sustained the loss of a favorite brother, the distressed and sympathizing friend, his County of a valuable citizen, and Centre Church of a good Member.
My Saviour shall my life restore
And raise me from my trials ahead
My flesh and soul shall pull I nowhere
But dwell forever near my God.
