"The Rev. James J. Kinney, pastor emeritus of St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church, died Wednesday. He was 77. Raised in the Tioga section of the city, Kinney was a 1927 graduate of Roman Catholic High School. He was ordained at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary on May 30, 1936. He had served as pastor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Media, and for 33 years taught Latin at St. Thomas More High School. He was pastor of St. Leo's from 1969 to 1982. After retiring, he continued officiating at masses and teaching school. Survivors include three sisters, Anna C. Diringer, Sister St. Irma, I.H.M., and Sister James Thomas, I.H.M. Mass will be celebrated at 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Leo's Church, Keystone and Unruh streets, where calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Concelebrated Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday with Cardinal John Krol the principal celebrant. Calling hours also will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Divine Office will be at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Avenue above Easton Road, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County."
