Freeman Fulbright was a reporter and public relations executive. He covered Adlai Stevenson's 1952 presidential campaign for the International News Service (INS), was general editor of Newsweek in the late 1950's, and was executive editor of the New York Herald Tribune from 1961 to 1964. He was senior vice president of Selvage and Lee, a PR firm, and then executive vice president of Hill and Knowlton, the largest PR firm in the world.

He married Jane Meese Fulbright in 1948, and had two children, Carolyn Frances Fulbright, and Charles Cary Freeman Fulbright. He died on June 6, 1978, of a heart attack, in New York City where he had lived since 1952. He was a loving father.
