Army Pvt Estrella-Soto was assigned to 507th Maintenance Company, Fort Bliss, Texas as an automated logistics specialist. Estrella-Soto was killed when his convoy took a wrong turn and was ambushed. He was identified April 5 as one of the soldiers found dead during the rescue of an American POW Pfc Jessica Lynch. Ruben was born in Ciudad Juarez but the family moved to El Paso, Texas. He graduated last year from Mountain View High School where he played football. He was a good student and hoped the Army would help him pay for college to study engineering. He knew the value of education and looked to the military as a way out of poverty. Ruben was proud of being in the military – when he came back from boot camp, he was very happy. He became a U.S. citizen and was proud to wear his uniform, ready to carry out his duties and willing to go to war.
