Tracker/Cadaver Dog. Molly along with another search dog, Morgan (a German Sheperd) were the first two cadaver dogs on the scene the morning after the terrorist attack on Sept. 11 2001. They worked tirelessly and often times through close calls of their own lives during the recovery efforts. Ironically her efforts to help victims may have led to her death. She suffered symtoms that many of the 9-11 search dogs have suffered. She spent nearly two weeks, up to 20 hours a day searching ground zero for bodies. She began loosing weight and vomiting and was taken to the vet where she died in her sleep five days later. Her last mission was closer to home when she helped in the search of Cindy Lynch who accidentally drowned in the Wilmington River in Georgia.
Cause of Death: Believed to be Cancer.
Molly was cremated and a Tree was planted in her memory in the JF Gregory Park behind the Richmond Hill Police Dept.
