Petronella Johansdotter was born at Tjörnekälv, Rönnäng, Sweden a daughter of Johan Persson and Christina Berndtsdotter Persson. She married Johan Christiansson at Tjörnekälv March 8, 1874 and they became the parents of five sons and two daughters. All five sons and their oldest daughter emigrated from Tjörnekälv to the United States between 1898 and 1912, settling in Brooklyn, New York, Long Island, New York and Portland, Connecticut. Their youngest daughter, Josephina, married and relocated to the island of Knippla, Öckerö. Petronella died a few months before her 92nd birthday in Knippla. She had continued to spend her summers in the house on Tjörnekälv, which is now owned and appreciated by a grandson and his family.
