PORTSMOUTH - Faye (Osher) Gerstein, 93, beloved widow of Samuel Gerstein, of 364 Miller Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at the Mark H. Wentworth Home in Portsmouth.

Born in New York, N.Y., on Sept. 24, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Rose (Blum) Osher.

She was a graduate of Brooklyn College, Class of 1932, and attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, at which time she performed at Carnegie Hall. She was a piano teacher for many years, retiring in 1980.

She was a member of Temple Israel in Portsmouth and past president of the National Council of Jewish Women and the temple sisterhood. She was a member of the Portsmouth Hospital Guild, a board member of Community Concert Association, a member of AARP, and a past member of the League of Women Voters.

She leaves three sons, Stanley Mark Gerstein of Malden, Mass., Dr. Larry J. Gerstein and wife Susan of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Daniel David Gerstein of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Tepper of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Morris Osher, and sister, Rae Schechter.
