Birdie Melvin LeDoux, 70, passed away on December 14, 2012 at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. Birdie was a native of Lakeland, GA. She was born on March 27, 1942 to John Collier Melvin and Eunice Richardson Melvin. She met and married the love of her life Joseph Ray LeDoux. They were married for 41 years until his death in 2006. They raised 4 children together. Mrs. LeDoux was a devout catholic and loved to bowl, play bingo, and Pokeno with her friends at the Grand Lake Elderly Apartments. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them with all of her heart.
Mrs. LeDoux leaves to cherish her memory her four children; David Ray LeDoux (Candace) of Dayton, OH, Joseph Timothy LeDoux (Virginia) of Lake Charles, Dana Darscheid (Robert)of Lake Charles, and Lana Miller (Karl) of Grand Lake, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren She is also survived by one brother James Lamar Melvin, and three sisters; JoAnn Ghan, Faye Hendley, and Mary Nelms. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Henry Melvin, and Joe Melvin, and one sister; Colleene Hartson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 1:30 PM in the chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne LeBleu officiating. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 10 AM to 8 PM and again on Monday from 8 AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed on Monday evening at 6 PM.
The family would like express a special thanks to their mothers nurse Penny LaBove, her nurse aide Liz and Doctor Gaharan and his staff.
