Van Alfred Gerdes
Van Alfred Gerdes, 64, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Prescott Valley, AZ.
Van was born December 23, 1946 at Anamosa, Jones Co, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Velma Purdy Gerdes.
Van graduated from Iowa City High School in 1965. Van entered the Navy after his Graduation from high school and retired from the Defense Contracts Management Office in Phoenix, AZ in the fall of 2002.
Van married Rebecca Baumhover of Des Moines, Iowa on January 28, 1971 at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Fallon, NV.
Van is survived by his wife, Becky of Prescott Valley, a daughter, Nicole (Daniel) Pelland and two grandchildren Ethan and Kaylan all of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Justin (Carlyn) Gerdes of Concord, CA and Jason Gerdes of Berkley, CA.; A brother, Greg Gerdes of Olin, Iowa and two nieces and their family of North Liberty, IA.

Van was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
