Colonel of the 4th Regiment, Albany County Militia during the Revolutionary War, member of the Committee of Correspondence and served as alderman. Three of Kiliaen's sons were also Colonels, his youngest later served in the legislature.
"He "slept in the Lord" December 28, 1781, leaving to his children an unblemished reputation for integrity, honor and patriotism. He was buried beside his wife in the family cemetery at Greenbush on the banks of the Hudson."
