R.Q. Sadberry began working at an early age on the family farm and performed many tasks until he was drafted into the United States Army. He fought in many foreign countries and earned numerous medals, including the American Theater Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He later became a civil service worker and earned a 30-year service pin and certificate of merit. He and his wife, Pearl Bacon Sadberry of San Antonio were members of the West End Baptist Church.
