Daughter of W.D. and Lula Belle Hampton Richards. She attended Jordan Elementary School and graduated from Keyteville High School in 1934. She attended Central Methodist College and later earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1940. That same year she began her teaching career in the Keytesville community. On August 27, 1948, she married Dr. Edward C. Drace D.D.S. They estabished their home in Keytesville, where she taught Elementary until her retirement in 1976. The School Library was named the Myrtis Drace Library to honor her many years of dedication. Myrtis was an active member of the Keytesville community. As a member of the United Methodist Church, she served as church pianist for many years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Warren Chapter; AAUW; CTA; MRTA; NEMO Retired Teachers; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; and the ABC Bridge Club.
Myrtis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Preston Richards and William Richards Jr.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, Mo, where visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Rev Glenna McVeigh officiated.
