Anna Tschannen was born to Johan and Maria (Heimberg) Tschannen on 23 Mar 1874 in Ostermannigan, Kanton, Bern, Switzerland. She arrived in the US about 1888 with her parents from Switzerland.

Anna married Frank Kestl on 28 Feb 1898 in Kane, IL (Frank's last name is sometimes spelled "Kestle" or "Kastle")

Anna and Frank left Illinois and moved to Ipswich, Edmunds, SD and are shown in the 1905 South Dakota State Census.

Anna and Frank had 6 children:
Fred Lawrence (1898-1984)
Lena Barbara (1900-1980)
Francis A. ("BeeBee") (1902-1995)
Bertha E. (1904-1980)
Susie (or "Lizzie" died young) (1907-1911)
Marie (1909-2007)

Son Fred & daughter Lena were born in IL; Daughters Francis, Bertha, Lizzie & Marie were born in South Dakota.

Anna died 4-5 days after the birth of her youngest child, Marie, possibly from a hemorrhage, at the age of 35. She is buried in Southside Cemetery, Ipswich, Edmunds, SD. Lot 138.

Frank and his 6 children moved back to Downer's Grove, Illinois after Anna's death. It is believed that Frank remarried.
