Mrs. Hixson was born in Norway, March 16th, 1862, her maiden name being Lena Westweek. When only a young girl she came to California where she met and married J.H. Hixson. During the greater part of her life she resided at the foot of what is known as the Honey Run grade. There she lived until four years ago, when the family moved to Chico, buying a place in the vicinity of the Sierra Lumber Company’s factory.
During the latter portion of her life Mrs. Hixson suffered from cancer, and was operated upon three times. Her death was finally caused by cancer of the stomach.
Deceased was a woman of a lovable disposition, kind-hearted and always a promoter of the best attainments in life. She was the mother of two sons, both of whom have been dead for several years, and who were buried at the family plot in the Paradise cemetery. The deceased leaves and aged husband and many friends to mourn her death.
Many friends followed the remains to their final resting place Sunday afternoon.
