Arch Gillis Cemetery
From the intersection of I-16 and GA 15, go south on GA 15 about 1.1 miles. The grave is about 0.5 mile down a private road to the left.
11/11/12 from Lonnie Salter:
Go out Hwy. 15, turn right on road with log barn at dead end corner. Halfway before dead end, there will be a little steep hill before the cotton patch; when you reach the crest, on the left will be a bank and some trees and a fire lane. Follow the fire lane about 100 yds. to a clearing where the cemetery is. (The log barn was A.J. Gillis' crib and his house stood across from it on the other corner; burned.)
(Lonnie Salter told me that his older brother, Thurman, said when he was young there were at least 10 or 12 graves visible in this cemetery, but only one remains. Since Arch Gillis was a grandson of Samuel Miller and Pharaba Pate, I am convinced this is the old Samuel Miller homeplace and this is the old Samuel Miller Cemetery where he is buried, as well as Pharaba and Norman Gillis. Further evidence is that Nancy Gillis, daughter of Pharaba Pate Miller and her second husband, Norman Gillis, lived near this cemetery with her mother and inherited much of this land and passed it on to her children.
