Omega Cemetery
Omega, Nevada County, California, USA
This cemetery is surrounded by a modern wooden fence and only contains a few headstones. Upon exploring around the outside of the fence, one might notice several grave-sized indentations in the earth amongst the small trees and brush, which seems to suggest that perhaps the actual size of this cemetery may be larger than the wooden fence indicates.
To view this cemetery, take state Hwy. 20 east of Nevada City. About 2 miles past the intersection of the Washington road, you will find the intersection of the Alpha-Omega road, on the left (north side of the highway). Just a short distance down this road, it will split into two, with the left fork going to Alpha and the right fork going to Omega. Take the right fork Omega Road, also known as Forest Service road #29. Drive about 3.6 miles until you come to the intersection of the 29-7 road on the left, which is marked by a sign post and blocked by a green farm-stlye locked gate. Just before this intersection only about 100 feet is another smaller, rather insignificant-looking road to the left. Turn on this road and drive in about 100 yards, where it will dead-end at the Omega Cemetery. You do not need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to access this cemetery, merely a car you are willing to drive on a gravel & dirt road for several miles.
