"Cemeteries of Oglethorpe County, Georgia", Wolfe Publishing Co., Fernandina Beach, FL/1995, Section F, Page 114:
F-26 EDWARDS 33deg.50'34" 83deg.10'46"
Located on hardwooded knoll 300 yards north of County Road 260 at a point 0.6 miles west of State Highway 77 on the old Edwards Place (as shown on 1894 Moss Map of county). About 20-25 unidentified graves, 5 of which are marked with fieldstones.
Comment about the cemetery by Hugh Bell: "I remember in the early 60s there was still the remains of a huge, plantation style house (gone now). Across from the house on top of a Hill (in eye-sight from the Rice farm) were a series of graves that I was told contained remains of Pres. Johnson's ancestors. That's all I remember. Except, there was a big hooplah about his coming (even though he WAS a Democrat). I remember that. The house was surely magnificient in its day."
This cemetery used by several families in the community is on the old plantation of William G. Edwards, Sr. & his wife Elizabeth "Betsey" (Brittain) Edwards and later their son William G. Edwards, Jr. & his wife Narcissa Weston (Johnson) Edwards.
~ Description by Meredith Drew Trawick a 5th g-granddaughter of William G. Edwards, Sr. & Elizabeth "Betsey" (Brittain) Edwards
