Half a mile west on Rte #189 to where Rte #198 jogs north for a quarter of a mile, then jogs back west again. (At this corner, you are at the southeast corner of Hezekiah B. Austin's 1852 40 acre homestead.) Continue west 1/4 a mile, reaching the south line of Samuel and Sarah Austin's 1836 homestead. A couple hundred yards further west you will find an unimproved lane heading north 1/4 mile to a ruined house (probably dates from the 1910's or 20's).
At the house is an electric fence and the road ends. The Burying Ground is found by walking along, and just north of the fenceline on a track back east to another fence which runs north and south, follow that fence north about a quarter of a mile to a barb wire fence running east and west. Here you are on the edge of a large hay field and you can see a stand of timber to the north another quarter of a mile (this is also where you enter the farm Samuel and Sarah purchased in 1834 from a Mr. Murphy). Head towards the tree line to the north, aiming for the tallest trees, just a bit west of due north. Seperated from the forest by 30 or 40 feet you will find a single large tree, surrounded by lilacs and lilies.
This is the Samuel Austin Burying Ground.
( Note: We found three head stones, and two foot stones, but there were what appeared to be four "bases". There might well be another grave in this location, possibly that of Hezekiah Austin, son of Samuel and Sarah, who died in 1876.)
