Officially designated as a "Grave Yard" 25 May 1895, Conveyance Book Q, pages 748-749. (See Mary Fitzgerald and William Barker for copy.)
This cemetery was originally documented by Doris Martin Holden in Nov 1975. At that time, there were still some old iron markers that were unreadable. At one time, it was fenced, but there is no longer any sign of the old wooden fence. When the cemetery was first established, it was near the old Stafford and Barker homes.
In the 1990's this cemetery was already overgrown and basically forgotten. The headstones were broken and on the ground.
The damage done by fallen trees in Hurricane Katrina in 2005 made things even worse.
When visited in July 2017, there was little visible remaining; only recognizable graves with cement surrounding them, but no markers. Three very damaged headstones broken into pieces were found on the ground. Those were of William Barker, Mark N. Barker and Peninah Fitzgerald.
