SHIPLEY GRAVEYARD NEAR PFEIFFER'S CORNER
(LOCATED ON ROUTE 108 CURTIS PROPERTY)
This is the same cemetery as recorded as Shipley Graveyard near Pfeiffer's Corner in "Tombstone Inscriptions From a Few Cemeteries in Howard County, Maryland". The original recording was done in 1930. The cemetery is still overgrown as was also noted in 1930.
Recorded in fall of 1986 by Russell Shipley and Clyde Pyers

as recorded in DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Cemetery Records 1958 - 1960:
SHIPLEY GRAVEYARD NEAR PFEIFFER'S CORNER
In a field on the east side of the Waterloo Road (Rt. #175) in the 1st District of Howard Co. near Pfeiffer's Corner, is an overgrown Shipley graveyard. This was recorded in 1930 by a member of the Shipley family who writes "In 1929 or 30 I cut my way into this graveyard; some stones were standing then. They were very worn, some field stones, others just smooth stones with initials cut into them....
The Wm. Chew Brown lot had an iron fence around it and was in better condition then the other lots. In a deed dated Oct. 12, 1870, James and Harriet Shipley reserve one half acre of land now used as a family burying ground"
Recorded August 1930 by Mrs. Marvin R. Shipley of Millersville, Md. and given to Gen. Records Com., Col. Thomas Dorsey Chap. D.A.R. 1958.

I want to thank the Howard County Historical Society for researching and sending me the above information with the list of known burials.
