John Barr b. 24 May 1823, Pennsylvania d. 15 Feb 1917, Miami, OH The Barr family has been identified with the agricultural interests of Miami county Since 1836. John and Margaret (Vanhook) Barr. John Barr was born in Pennsylvania, and was still a young man when he came to Ohio, making the entire journey on foot and walking behind a truck which made the overland trip. John Barr was a lifelong farmer, a vocation which he followed principally in Greene county and was a man of worth and substance who had the respect and esteem of the people of his community. His death occurred in 19I7. John and Margaret Barr had twelve children with eleven living.
