St. Louie Woman B-24J-401 CF 42-50459 Assigned to 448th Bomb Group, 714th Bomb Squadron. Crashed Aug 16, 1944 near Gerwisch, Germany after participating in bombing of Magdeburg, Germany. All but one perished, after the war captured German records recorded the crash and burial of crew at local cemetery. The area was in Russian control after the war but the American Graves Registration Service was able to remove the buried remains and return them to be interred together on 7 Feb 1951 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Saint Louis St. Louis County Missouri, USAPlot: SECTION 84 SITE 279-281
