Benjamin Rufus Cromwell was the first son of Benjamin P. Cromwell and Clara Massey. The second son was Robert Sylvanus Cromwell who is buried in Laurel Hill Florida. Clara was 15 when she gave birth to Benjamin Rufus and Benjamin P. the father was 56 at the time. Benjamin P. Cromwell is the son of William H. Cromwell and Prudence D. Harford of Sagadahoc Maine. Benjamin P. Cromwell was married twice in Maine, the first wife and child died in child birth in 1862 and the second wife was 10 years older than him and couldn't have kids so he divorced her and moved to Alabama after the Civil War in 1890 so he married Clara Massey in 1905. Benjamin P. Cromwell owned and operated a blacksmith shop in Mobile Alabama until his death in 1924. Benjamin P. Cromwell and Clara Massey divorced in 1920 and Clara married a younger man and moved to Lakeland Florida.
