Barge Cemetery

The Barge Family Cemetery is very old Cemetery in Zavalla, Angelina County TX. started in 1886 at the death of my g.g. Aunt Laura Barge who was born Feb.-9-1878 to John William Barge and Mary Ann Cryer Barge, Laura who loved to play under a large tree near there Home told her Parents one day that when she died she wanted to be buried there.A few months later there dear little one died suddenly at the age of 8 years of age what a terrible time of greif they were heart broken there little Angel was now at Home with Jesus, Laura died on July-17-1886 and as she had asked she was buried under her Tree she loved to play under.This was the start of Our Dear Barge Family Cemetery my G.G. Grand Dad DR. Colin McIver Barge is buried there he was born in North Carolina in 1819 the Grandson of Lewis & Christiana Barge, Lewis was a signer of The Liberty Point Resolve in 1775 which was North Carolina Declaration of Independance from Great Britian Lewis is buried in the Barge Section of Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetiville N. Carolinawe have a rich Heritage and my Barge Ancestors left much for us to be proud of it. wrote by Carol Ann Barge 2-7-2012
