Curtis Hall Cemetery

A historical African-American Cemetery on the south side of the legendary Walnut Lake at Pickens, Arkansas. I suspect that many interred there was former sharecropper tenant farmers that worked for Reuben or Burton Cecil "B.C." Pickens at the large cotton plantation founded in the late 1800's. This old cemetery has many that have unmarked graves and a few of the original gravestones are in good condition. Pickens, Arkansas is located about three miles south of Dumas, Arkansas. On the north side opposite from Curtis Hall Cemetery is Walnut Lake Cemetery, a white cemetery founded by the Holmes Family and the property bought and donated by R.A. Pickens in the 1930's.
