Bio

Originally, the Scotts came to the New World from Selkirkshire, Scotland. After being defeated in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, Capt. David Scott fled Scotland to avoid being hung for treason. Upon arriving in Virginia, he married Letitia McKendrick whom he had 18 children with. While the American Revolution was going on, the Scotts moved from Virginia to North Carolina, where they raised their children on a large plantation. Their son James moved to Georgia, where the next three generations of Scotts lived in Newton until Fred Scott who grew up on a farm in Conyers, Georgia with eight siblings moved to Thomasville where he married Ethel Cochran.

Lybrook, Lathrop. Blood. 2019.
