Bio

My mother was a genealogist who put untold numbers of people together with their western Canadian Métis roots. This site might or might not have been in existence when she passed away and now it's my turn to add another layer to family records.

I'm retired and have two volumes with some 800 pages of names, dates and relationships dating back to 1793 when Henry Hallett, the patriarch of this very extensive and widely spread out family came to Rupertsland (western Canada) with the Hudson's Bay Company.

My mother was only one of many people who contributed material that was painstakingly compiled and published within the last two and three decades. Information of present day generations is also being gathered by Heather Hallett and hopefully someone some day will pick up parts of this mantle and add to the ever growing descendants' records when those of us who hold the torch now are gone.

My aim is to tie my relatives' memorials together and add or correct information where possible. In some cases sons who lost their lives during the world wars and whose families never saw their grave markers can be brought back together digitally through technology and dedication of volunteers of Find A Grave who do and have done this important groundwork. Those closest to our family research know that members of this extended family fought on either side of the Northwest Rebellion too, perhaps knowing they were related. Or perhaps not.

To all the willing volunteers who have contributed and will contribute to this project, you have my undying respect and gratitude for your contribution and cooperation. I encourage anyone that has family ties to the Halletts to contact me by email or to add, edit and link the memorials already established.
