If you create a Find-a-Grave memorial, it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that the dates are correct and that ALL information contained in the memorial 1.) is substantiated with evidence in the form of a tombstone photo or other PRIMARY SOURCE data; 2.) is properly and formally documented in a recognized academic format (e.g. MLA style, APA style, Chicago style, etc.); and 3.) is grammatically correct. Referencing general "Ancestry.com trees" does not constitute "evidence" or "proof" of anything! Nor does it provide any real attribution to the original researcher. Respect the historians, genealogists, scholars, and researchers who did the original research and who did the hard work of identifying and documenting an ancestral line. I generally feel that Find-a-Grave is nothing but a real MESS, but since some people do use the site for genealogical purposes, I am not bashful about pointing out errors. I really feel that the site needs to be redesigned in order to standardize the content on the memorials and to force creators to properly document their material. I am not sentimental about the memorials on this site, but if some people are, that is ok, but in that instance, logic would dictate that nothing would be less "sacred" than creating a memorial that is anything but perfectly accurate.
