My 4 maternal great grandparents were Lemko Rusyns from SE Poland who immigrated to the US in the late 1870's. They were thought to be of Russian ancestry until 20 years ago when we learned our true Slavic identity. Our history is complicated with some identifying as Rusyn and others as Ukrainian. I am also researching my father's German, Hungarian, and Scots-Irish ancestry. The Baird/Beard's. Jane Sproul from Ireland. Other family names; Ohler, Hoffman, Hinckel, Seibert, Isett & Hufford.
