Bio

My interest in genealogy began with my grandmother's cousin. I was connected to his granddaughter, my 3rd cousin, through a choir we were both in. She often stayed with her grandparents on the weekends, and they lived only about 6 miles from me. So she asked if we could ride together to our choir events when she was there. I asked who her grandparents were, and when she told me their last name was Sting, I knew we were related somehow, since that was my grandmother's maiden name. After that, I was often over at her grandparents as well. He was heavily into genealogy, and had even taken trips to Germany to do some research into that line of the family. And he told GREAT stories.

Then my father-in-law was also into genealogy, which further spurred my interest, as did my mother being interested in doing her own DNA test through Ancestry. So I began researching and compiling my own family tree.

I am interested in the following surnames for my family: Koch, Meyer, Sting, Schellhas, Jonas, Deeg, Voland, Vates, Bruining, Landow, Kreis, Volz, Baalke, Wittenberg, Weiss, and Sohn, as well as Dahl/Dall/Dahle, Meier, Ergenzinger, Schramm, Leyrer, Schuler, Krumme, Kaiser, Schober, Neuhaus, Limburg, Galsterer, and Zucker.

I am also working on my husband's tree, though my father-in-law has helped a great deal with that for the following surnames: Knack, Wheat, Strieter, VanDerWerff, Bublitz, Harmon, Mercer, VanNortwick, Kraus, Theil, Armbruster, Rollins, Starr, Price, Bowma/Bouma, and McCann.

Plus, I am working on my ex's family line for our daughters. This includes the following surnames: Tuin, Priest, Bruggeman, Walz, Kruiter, VanKlaveren, Strole, Powers, Bodeker, Lenning, Wiggers, Weller, Davis, Derrmut/Damon, Gassweiler, and Palmer.

These are the bulk of the surnames I continue to research and manage memorials for, though there may be others as I go further back.

Since I enjoy photography, I have made myself available to photograph cemeteries local to me. Please note that I will happily turn over management of any memorials I end up creating to descendants and family members of those individuals. Family belongs with family.
