Bio

The Friends of Christ Church Graveyard was established in June 2017 as a Community Association. The Group is open to all those with an interest in the graveyard and develops opportunities to improve and refurbish the graveyard for the benefit of all users and visitors.

The Group helps those who care for graves of loved ones, those who visit to find solace in bereavement or who wish to take advantage of a quiet, natural area, as well as those who use the routes through the graveyard and surrounding footpaths. We have developed a community programme to make improvements to the graveyard to provide a safe, welcoming and tranquil area.

We work with the Church Council and the regular churchyard volunteers on the maintenance and development of the graveyard.

We hold regular clear up mornings, when we carry out lightweight tasks. We also seek funding for major work, such as tree and shrub management, path creation and repair and boundary restoration. We help those who are interested in the history of the graveyard, local/family history and military graves.

The Friends are all volunteers and live in the local community. All funding comes from grant-aid, fund raising activities carried out during the year or through donations, which are always welcome.
