I never really know what to write for these things, so will cover the basics... I'm an Architect by profession, a budding genealogist in my spare time. Overall foodie all the time...!

I began diving into my family's history after my dad passed in 2017. He began nearly 40 years ago, long before the computer and DNA searches were even a thing.

He had taken the Ancestry DNA test in 2017, but passed away prior to receiving the results. When we did receive the results, they were deemed inconclusive (the sample was apparently too small). They'd sent a new kit to redo the test, so I provided the sample, and that began the journey into discovering our family's history.

When my dad passed, his papers came to me, and I decided that it was time to finish what he began. So armed with his notes, and the Ancestry website... I was off and running... and in the process, have also begun to generate (and collaborate on) memorials here on Find A Grave. It has been quite rewarding, and has added a level of tangibility to my family that I hadn't imagined. Now it's something that has become a part of my standard routine.
