Like so many people, I was inspired to a lifelong interest in family history after seeing "Roots" on TV when I was a child. I inherited family history & photo collections from my maternal grandmother (Prater, Willis), maternal great-grandmother (True, Goodwin, Johns), and my maternal great-great grandmother (Fawks, Doerrie). I also inherited the lifelong work of my paternal aunt, Jewelean Mayberry Reaves (Mayberry, Mathis, Bryant, Simpson, Hensley, Manier, Cowan). She loved digging for family history and establishing connections with far-flung cousins (if you met her, she would figure out how you might be related). She was a genealogy genius and I will never catch up to her great work.
