Bio

I am the bookkeeper and self-appointed historian for the Springhill Perpetual Care Cemetery, located five miles west of Millport, Lamar, Alabama just off of Hwy 96. My niece and I did the survey of those burial in Springhill Cemetery (#26413) in the hot summer of 1992. James Huguley, President of the Board of Trustees for Springhill Perpetual Care Cemetery, assigned the Row and Plot numbers. He, along with other members of the Board of Trustees, made cement row markers and plot markers. After we completed the survey, I started collecting obituaries, census records and doing interviews to find out all I could about those buried there. Then I typed all of it into my computer and compiled the "Springhill Cemetery Archives" book (Burials 02/28/1858 - 05/08/2009). Each year I do an addendum to include additional information I have found and information on those buried within the previous year (from one Decoration Day to the next). I enjoy using Census Records and trying to "connect" families on FAG, also. I think it is very important to Preserve Memories.
