Mrs. Mabel E. Oakley of South Gilboa, died Sunday, Sept 2 at Stamford Hospital. She was 87 years old.

She was born in Bloomville July 1, 1892 to Severan and Margaret Oakley. She married George Van Alstine who died in 1941. Later she married Fred H. Oakley. She had lived for 35 years in South Gilboa, formerly resided in Meredith.

Surviving beside her husband are three sons, Charles Van Alstine of Ocala, FL, James Van Alstine of Delhi and Millard Van Alstine of Binghamton; three daughters, Mrs. Lynn Ackley of Franklin, Mrs. Earl Kitz of Racine WI and Mrs. Milton Ward of Oneonta; a step-daughter, Mrs. George Merwin of Rochester.

She also leaves five step-sons, Fred H. Oakley Jr. of South Gilboa, Jessie Oakley of LaFayette, Imer Oakley of Florida, Virgil Oakley of Hobart and Victor Oakley of Saugerties.

Services were Wednesday from Hall Funeral Home in Stamford with Rev Harry Robinson officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Grand Gorge.
