Hello there,
For those of you taking the time to submit edits, thank you.
Please do not send edit's in capitals, where possible please let me know the source of your information as I check each edit I am sent and if needed order copies of certificates to verify I have the correct information.
Please don't be disheartened if I should decline your edit it is usually for a good reason, just some.…….
your ancestor may have the same name as someone else with a very close date of birth.
Yes transcription errors exist which can affect hints on Ancestry and many other sites enumerators also misheard names or may not have known how to spell certain names and so did their best. Ancestry does not always give you the correct hints for your ancestor and can lead to saving hints possibly across two separate unrelated lines, yep you have to check the information you are saving to your tree.
If you have saved info from someone else's tree how do you know that it is correct? isn't it more rewarding to know your tree is your own hard work?
For Births pre 1837, I am happy to enter the date of birth if appears in the baptism record but if not rather than add an estimated date, the date of baptism is a little more person specific.
