I have set my self a project to trace the initial and final burial locations of U.S service forces (and American Red Cross Nurses) who died during the Great War and/or were first buried in cemeteries across Great Britain and Ireland - currently I know of 2514 !.

In the 1920's the U.S State authorised the option for families of the Great War (WW1) dead to have their bodies repatriated for home burial of be left where originally buried - around 2000+. Currently (April 2023) still need to locate graves of 243 in the USA. I have 57 image requested registered.

I am also progressing the 9725 from WW2 or which 5913 were repatriated (3812 lie in Cambridge American Cemetery). As of April 2022 of the 3 primary temporary cemeteries; Brookwood (101 of 3620), Cambridge (154 of 5892) and Lisnabrenny (2 of 148) places of final burial escape me. There are FAG records that could match these, but they lack detail and so an image of any marker, which might confirm a match, can not be made. I would like to create FAG memorials for the remainder if positive locations can be proved. Surprising that so many cemeteries rely on telephone contact and have no e-mail address, which for someone based in Great Britain is rather a drawback. Many great responses from Cemetery staff, often taking photos for me.

I appreciate help already given by FAG Friends and hope that this will continue. Terry (GB)
