Bio

Greetings everyone on the hunt! My name is Lady Mathers and I am a direct Paternal descendent of Rev. Richard Mather, born: 1596 in Lowton, Winwick, Lancashire, England. When I first started my Genealogy hunt in 2006, I had a very different idea of who my family was.

My Grandfather was Harry (Henry) Theodore Mathers (the 's' was added in the 1700's with Daniel Mather(s). He was born: Nov 24, 1902 in Middlesex, Ontario, Canada. He emigrated from Canada & became a US Citizen on: August 19, 1946 and took up residence in Detroit, Michigan on Dequindre Road.

I let my Genealogy search go by the way and took it up again in early 2018. I have been fleshing out the dates I have for Mather(s) family members with more information about the lives of those in my Paternal Bloodline. I had my DNA done through Ancestry and discovered that I was in fact 1/5th Irish and about 45% English; a Brit nonetheless. I suppose I thought the Irish would be a greater percent, but that's what Genealogy is all about; proving and disproving the information you THINK you have.

I am currently researching Rev. Richard's line and I have found his parents: Thomas Mather & Marguerite Abrams, and that they were married Sept 14, 1591. Richard came along in 1596, then his sister: Ellin in 1598, then sister: Elizabeth Mary Mather on July 9, 1618. All of them were born in Lowton, Winwick Parish, Lancashire, England.

All I have for Richard's Great Grandparents, is Mr. & Mrs. John Mather. I have not yet found a name (have you?) for Mrs. Mather. I do know she was born about 1550 in the same place listed above, that John was born approx. the same year. They were married about 1569 in Lowton and she died in Lowton, but unsure when. Mr. & Mrs. John Mather were my Great Grandparents x12.

Any information with documentation would be MOST welcome to round out the family tree. Thank you for reading. I am building my family tree on familysearch.com, a sub group of Ancestry and should be accessable through Ancestry.

A sidenote to my interesting family: my 5th cousin, 4x removed was the NOTORIOUS "Mysterious Dave Mather" of the 1800. There is much information about him online, AND there is a half hour feature on my ancestor on youtube.com that was filmed at John Wayne's ranch. It's worth a look if you are of the Mather bloodline. No one yet knows when he died, how or where. Some of the speculations are out of this world, literally. LOL. David Allen Mather was once a lawman in Dodge City, Kansas and he also walked on the not so legal side of things. He is mentioned by name in the movie Tombstone, and was said to have played cards in the Palace Hotel here in Prescott, Az where I live. Of all places in earth to move to, to find out 20 years after you've been there, that your ancestor had actually BEEN to that town, with the likes of Doc Holiday, Bat Materson, Wyatt Earp. Doc Holiday's woman, BIg Nosed Kate is buried here in Prescott, AZ in the Pioneer Cemetery.

Life IS interesting. Any stories welcome on this family of mine. Blessings!
