Bio

I am a retired career U.S. Foreign Service Officer (diplomat) with 40 years of service in US embassies overseas and the State Department in Washington, D.C. My passion for family history derives from my father, Dr. Robert F. Slutz, Jr., who spent the last 20 years of his life tracing our Slutz ancestors (and branches) and who served as President of the Indian River County (Florida) Genealogical Society. I am a member of the Kerrville (Texas) Genealogical Society and of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) based on my lineage back to (Patriots) Asa Dains, Adam Homsher and John Sluts. My current project is a history of my grandfather's World War I experience (as an officer in the 42nd Rainbow Division/Ohio 166th Infantry) in France, based on carefully preserved diaries and letters home.
