Genealogy: where you confuse the dead, and irritate the living. It sure does happen....
I'm a 9th gen Vermonter, born in a VT town bordering Canada and residing in the NEK of VT since 1976. Dad's from northern VT, mom's from northeastern ME. I'm married to an 8th gen-Vermonter. I have 68% English DNA.... 20 Rev War soldiers in my tree as direct ancestors. Among them: Tim Chickering - supplied George Washington with oxen from New England; Comfort Chaffee - carried George's tent and supplies.

Other direct ancestors: Susannah North - hung at Salem, falsely accused of witchcraft; Charlemagne as a 27th g-gfather. Hannah (Dustin) Emerson - kidnapped by Indians who then killed her baby, but 10 days later she and two other hostages killed and scalped the Indian group that was taking them to Canada, returning to MA with the scalps for bounty; Roger's Rangers Col. James Hacket who went on to design and build warships for the American Revolution; Rev. Roger Williams - founder of RI; Edward Wightman - the last heretic burned at the stake for heresy in England; Rev. Ralph Wheelock - the first paid public school teacher in America; Sir Isaac Newton's grandfather, Robert Isaac Newton; "The Governor" Thomas Mayhew - owner of Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket and the Elizabeth Islands in the 1640s... but my most recent ancestors include many generations of New England pioneers, farmers and explorers. Many had contact with Indians, British and French soldiers. Also I'm descended from a handful of "les filles du Roi" - the King's daughters, who came across the Atlantic to help populate Canada's French colony of "New France".

More local to my area of VT: a direct ancestor began All Wright Spring in St. Johnsbury, VT (now All Right Spring) - Benjamin Wright. Another fired the only shot in the Royalton Raid, and owned the water-powered sawmill now on display at the Shelburne Museum - Jeremiah Trescott. His father (Jeremiah Sr.) owned the land that now feeds Hanover, NH with water (Trescott Water Supply Lands).

Our family travels many back roads processing poultry - we've had the chance to be in A LOT of cemeteries looking for our ancestors (and finding them). I add obits that have been in a PUBLIC forum, and facts from PUBLIC records. I try to keep info accurate, but please let me know with EDIT suggestions if you find an error or want to make things more accurate. If birth/death certs have alternate data, I assume gravestone has errors - you'll never find your grandpa "John" if his gravestone says "Jonn". If you message me but have replies "disabled", I may not hear you. I will definitely not hear you if you're rude and offensive - I don't care if you're the President's mother! Harass me and you'll get nowhere fast... I'm open to transferring if you're a close relative, but if your intentions are to change the facts, ignore vital statistics and alter history... then you don't belong here. Feel free to use my photos, etc...

Cemeteries I've completely documented, which always involves some sleuth work on partially legible stones. Disclaimer - there are often fieldstone markers in these burial grounds, and these could use some research in sexton records by someone. I haven't made the time, yet:
