I am the Past Commander of the Robert Henry Ricks Camp 75 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Rocky Mount NC. We locate graves of Confederate soldiers from this area and clean the cemeteries and tombstones. One for example in Nash County is the John E. Thorne Cemetery where our namesake is buried.
As of February 2017 our camp has cleaned 8 cemeteries & will now be maintaining them in the future. All are on private property and we have obtained written permission from all landowners. With that said we also honor all requests made by the landowners regarding care & protection.
I have also located & documented other cemeteries as well, for example the Sharpsburg Cemetery.
